Description

The Laundry - Patient / Visitor provides space and amenities for patient and/or visitor use, including a washing machine, a dryer, a laundry sink, bench space and storage for a small amount of detergents and equipment such as an iron, distilled water, ironing board and folding drying rack.

Hours of Operation

Up to 24 hours (units may limit times for use to minimise noise during certain hours)

1-2 patients / visitors;; 1 staff assisting as required

Additional Considerations

~ Domestic appliances have been indicated in this room. The use of commercial machines may be considered at project level to suit anticipated frequency of use and operational models. ~ A tall storage unit has been indicated for storage of equipment such as an iron (and distilled water), an ironing board and a folding drying rack. Provision of this equipment is to be confirmed at project level to suit operational models. ~ The type and storage requirements for any chemicals (e.g. laundry detergents, stain removers, etc.) are to be confirmed at project level to suit local jurisdictional policies and operational service requirements. ~ Exhaust requirements are to be confirmed to suit the selected appliances. ~ Body Protection has been indicated above as required. Depending on the context of this room (e.g. where it is only to be provided as an amenity for visitor in a dedicated overnight area), Body Protection requirements may not apply. Project teams must confirm if the room is to be classified as a Body Protected patient area based on the potential for use of this room by patients in accordance with the requirements of AS/NZS 2500. ~ Mobile duress coverage has been indicated as required with anticipated use by patients and occasional assistance being required from staff. Requirements for fixed duress and/or mobile duress coverage are to be confirmed by project teams to suit room context, service requirements, and local security and WHS policies.
