Description

The Consult Room - Universal Access will provide for private consultation and physical examination of a range of patients with or without support persons present.

Hours of Operation

Up to 24 hours (dependent on unit operating hours)

Occupancy

1 patient; 1-2 visitors; 1-2 staff

Additional Considerations

~ The spatial allowance will accommodate patients who (a) are using a wheelchair, including a bariatric sized wheelchair; or (b) require a hoist to transfer. ~ The position of the basin, dispensers and other fittings also allows for use by staff in wheelchairs. ~ A second door may be required for staff safety and security; the location of the second door will be dependent on the availability an appropriate area to egress. ~ It is anticipated that one of these rooms may be provided within a 'pod' of consult rooms. ~ An operational model for responding to calls from staff/patients will be needed to support the inclusion of a nurse call system and is to be determined based on service requirements.
