Briefing

Description
An open bay for measuring and recording the height and weight of patients. Standing scales and a stadiometer are typically provided.
Hours of Operation
Up to 24 hours (dependent on unit operating hours)
Occupancy
1 patient intermittently; 1 staff intermittently
Additional Considerations
~ Chair scales may be used here or may be stored here to be used elsewhere in the department as required. ~ The type of scales and provision for bariatric patients will be dependent on service requirements. ~ The bay should deep enough to ensure that equipment does not impede adjacent corridor circulation. Design and location of bay should allow for intermittent use without significant disruption to circulation in adjacent corridor. ~ Grab rails for patient stability may be provided and may be either integral to the scales or wall mounted.
