Description
The Bay - Scrub room provides an area and facilities for performing surgical hand antisepsis prior to entering the Operating Room and donning sterile gloves and gowns. Surgical hand antisepsis is performed to substantially reduce the number of micro-organisms on the hands prior to performing any aseptic or surgical procedure.

Additional Considerations
~ Number of taps and soap/hand-rub dispensers to be confirmed to suit staffing and service requirements. ~ A minimum of 900mm is required between taps to allow for sufficient space for taps to be used simultaneously. ~ Taps to be non-touch, either operated with sensor activation or elbow levers. ~ Provision of a shelf above the scrub trough to be confirmed at project level to suit service requirements (considering provision of dispensers/holders, cleaning protocols and mounting height provision to suit workplace health and safety policies). ~ Height and type of wall finish to suit local infection prevention and control policies and rigorous cleaning regimes. Provision and height of corner guards as required to provide protection from anticipated mobile equipment movement. ~ Depending on proximity of this room to the Operating room and the use of x-ray equipment during procedures, radiation shielding may be required to some walls of this room and is to be assessed by a Radiation Consultant.
